A recent rat investigation by Cleankill Pest Control has highlighted the importance of choosing your contractor carefully and identifying the root cause of an infestation, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Cleankill Surveyor Mark Hobbs was called to a private property where the homeowner reported hearing rats in an extension void. Rats had also been spotted outside the property, prompting Mark to investigate the drainage system.

All our staff are brilliant and award-winning but, once a month, we thought we’d shine the spotlight and help you get to know some of our staff who have particularly interesting customers or backgrounds. This month, we’re getting to know our Pest Control Technician Bob.

Bob’s first job was as a postman and he also worked on a trout farm (as he is a keen fisherman) before he joined Rentokil at the age of 21 and worked there for 18 years.

Each season poses its own pest problems with different pests being active at different times - autumn does not mean we can become complacent when it comes to pest control. As we hit the peak of August, those summer pests are in full force! The particularly warm year we’ve had also means numbers of some insects are much higher than last year due to their life cycles being accelerated by the warm climate. Though the sun can help businesses thrive this time of year, it can also bring some unwanted customers - especially if you're in hospitality. Keep it Clean 

Schools are out for summer! This may be daunting news for many who have to keep their little ones occupied for 6 weeks. But it does mean you can finally go on that family holiday you’ve been thinking about all year! However, you don’t want to be bringing back any unwanted souvenirs. When returning home from a holiday, you could potentially bring back several pests in your luggage. Here are some to look out for: 

Bed Bugs 

Glis glis are very cute-looking animals and are also commonly known as the Edible Dormouse or the Fat Dormouse. However, these little furry creatures can actually cause a lot of damage to properties, crops and infrastructures. With summer rapidly approaching, this is the time of year (between June and November) that we begin to see Glis glis.  So what are these pests and what problems do they bring?
