We’re often called by people who suspect they have a rodent problem, the signs are there but they haven’t seen them.
One of the biggest tell-tale signs is the smell - rodents have a very particular musky smell. Of course, where there is life there is death and a dead rodent smells even worse than a live one!
The accompanying picture is from a call out where a dead rodent smell was reported. On arrival the smell was unmistakeable and we followed our nose to the coat hook. A rodent had died on the coat hook but was covered by another jumper. Yuck! The building was empty and was undergoing a renovation.
We’ve found a rat in an office box file before and a dead mouse in a wall plug’s cavity!
