Feral Pigeons
Well, who doesn’t know a pigeon when they see one? Of course, if you don’t know a pigeon when you see one, there’s a picture of one opposite. Despite winning 32 (out of 53) Dickin medals in WWII (the animal VC), pigeons have some less than amusing habits and some pretty unsavoury friends. These include Mr Bird flea & Mrs Clothes moth amongst others. It is the pigeon’s naturally altruistic tendancies that make it happy to share its friends with us all.
Unless you are collecting pigeon droppings for your garden, which is not recommended, most sane people would prefer not to have pigeons roosting on their home or workplace. There’s the smell, the insects, the squidgy poo dropping on your head, the tiny bird mites, the fatal diseases, and the list goes on. But this could all be prevented, usually, by stopping them roosting on your workplace or your home. Just get on the phone – to us of course.
So, how about controlling them, then?
Well, there’s a question. There are several methods, or systems, available to control pigeons, such as netting, sprung wires and spikes. You’ve probably seen some of these on buildings. Of course, in some instances there may be more complex solutions and in others, much simpler solutions. Check out our bird control stuff for more details and some pictures.
We do a lot of work to prevent pigeons from roosting on buildings and we even give a guarantee on our materials and workmanship. If you have concerns about harming pigeons, don’t worry. You may be pleased to know that pigeons can usually be controlled without harming them! Well, nearly always, anyway.
