They may look cute and cuddly, but these American immigrants have very sharp teeth and they know how to use them. Some people like grey squirrels, but in truth, they have bullied our native red squirrels pretty badly and that’s not good. Grey squirrels are fine outside gathering their nuts, but if they get into a loft space they can chew through water pipes or electric lighting cables, causing chaos.
They tend to be a seasonal problem, because they like nesting in autumn & spring. They like to build their nests in warm, secure places, like lofts or chimneys. It may be possible to block their access holes, but they have very sharp teeth and can easily chew more holes. Once they get inside, reaching them can be an issue. Still, there are often ways and means. We have plenty of experience dealing with squirrels. Call us for more information.
