Cleankill has only two assets – its customers and its staff. Without these two assets we would not have a business.
We have consistently re-invested in the company and increased the number of staff and their skill base to enable us to continue to grow organically.
The overall package that we have set up for our staff is ahead of any other company within the industry. We pay a higher basic salary, we give BUPA healthcare for all staff and their dependants, whether full or part time. All staff have life insurance to four times their annual salary and all staff take part in the Cleankill Shareholder pension scheme.
We are keen to support the well-being of staff by ensuring that they have an effective balance between their work and home lives. This has helped engender a strong sense of loyalty to the organisation.
Openness is also very important and giving staff high levels of autonomy in respect of the way they carry out their work. There is a strong emphasis on the sharing of knowledge, skills and experience and this will often mean directors working alongside a member of staff in order that knowledge can be shared.
We also demonstrate that we value staff by investing in training and we believe we now have the best trained staff in the industry. Testament to the way we look after our staff is the Investors in People Silver award we recently achieved. Less than 2 per cent of companies achieve this accolade.
